RFILIPINAS ASSEMBLY MEETING:
Minutes of meeting of march 10, 2007
Members present:
Jay, Wam, Rain, Uro, Gary, Luis, Nick, Paolo, Joy, Dennis, Nelson, Rollie (dropped by), Eddie
Agenda:
1. Street kids project
2. SEC registration
3. Announcements
Decisions/discussion:
- Reaffirmation of RF commitment to the Malate Parish Youth Program for photo shoot project
- Tet and Fr. ---, contact persons at Remedios Foundation of Malate Parish, have agreed to work with RF.
- Outputs: hand-made photo books, post cards, photo exhibit, training of selected kids on how to produce photobooks
- Upon Uro's suggestion, the group adopted the packaging of photobook as a personal creation of a child beneficiary of the Malate parish program. "Sewn and created by (name of child)," Uro suggests.
- Nick's suggestion of protecting copyright was accepted.
- Proceeds of project will all go to the street kids program.
- Wam's point: No political agenda will be allowed. RF will not be beholden to any political interest. Only the welfare and the plight of the street children will be presented. And any person or parties who will provide support will be duly recognized without compromising the purity of the project's objectives.
- Wam will contact Tet regarding the following:
a) to check on the parish capacity to train kids on book making. If the parish is unable to provide the training, Gary and Wam will provide training for a selected number of kids.
b) to clarify expectations of partner organization (Malate Parish) regarding RF resources (material and technical) which they can avail of.
c) to present a prototype of photo book
d) to present other options for fund-raising like photo exhibit, postcards
- Larry Cruz (friend of wam), Kaibigan Foundation (rollie dropped by to give materials of this foundation) and Instituto Cervantes will be consulted for possible support once a written concept paper/proposal is made.
- Commitments from members made:
a) Uro will provide hand-made paper.
b) RF members will provide prints through personal capacity.
c) Nick donated several rolls of films during the meeting
- Mechanics and guidelines on which photos will be included in the photobooks will still be discussed.
- Uro also suggested the making of a "commercial" grade photobook for wider distribution.
- An initial walkabout in the community by certain members will be made; products will be part of prototype photobook; Wam and Gary to set photoshoot. Areas for walk-about, though initially identified as area within Malate leading up to baywalk, will be formally established at a later date.
- Tuloy sa Don Bosco, a suggested fallback community, was also considered and shelved.
- Nick is going to take care of SEC registration; 5 members for the board and a list of members are required.
- Logo still in the works.
Announcements:
- A two-hour workshop on black and white film processing will be calendared.
- Wam nominated Jay Javier as official head/president/chairperson of RF. No objections were registered.
